<SPOILERS BELOW>
Smarf first appears in the sitcom intro of Too Many Cooks, as the family's cat puppet, where he's seen playing the piano. At a certain point, after Bill begins murdering members of the Cook family with a machete and taking their places in the video, he is destroyed when he is shot with laser beams by Smarf, who blows up shortly after, revealing himself to be a robot.
Later in the video, after Smarf kills the Killer, he himself is shown to be mortally wounded, and he painfully drags himself over to push the Reset Button to save the show. Just before he reaches it however, he dies from his injuries, making it ambiguous whether or not Smarf actually hit the reset button or not. However, after this scene, literally everyone including Smarf is shown to be alive and well, and Smarf seems happy to be reunited with his family again.
